Bridges
| A bridge is a fixed
prosthetic, meaning it is cemented in place permanently to
make a bridge from one tooth to another. If you have a missing
tooth or teeth side by side and have somewhat healthy teeth
on each adjacent side you could have a bridge made, where
there would be crowns made for your existing teeth and a
false tooth or teeth attached in the centre. A bridge is
often an alternative treatment option to implants. |
 |
Crowns
| Crowns are a protective
jacket or cap that is placed over an existing tooth that
could not otherwise be restored properly by filling material
alone. The tooth could be weakened by a large restoration
or previous root canal therapy. It could possibly be fractured
in such a way that a conventional filling could not restore
the tooth to a functional state. At this point a crown preparation
would be peformed, where the dentist would prep your existing
tooth, take an impression so the crown will fit and function
like your natural tooth did, and then send this impression
to our laboratory that actuaIly fabricates the crown. This
takes approximately two weeks and during that time you will
have a temporary crown protecting the prep work until your
permanent crown is cemented in place. |

Dentures
Dentures are either classified
as complete or partial. Complete means that you have no natural
teeth existing and they have all been replaced by a denture. Partial
means that the denture replaces only some teeth that are missing.
Dentures are fabricated at our laboratory and all of the preparation
appointments are in the office. It usually requires four or five
consecutive appointments and approximately four weeks of time to
complete this process.
Extractions
Extractions are performed for
several reasons. For example, wisdom teeth often need to be removed,
extractions may be required for orthodontics to make room for repositioning
of other teeth, and sometimes extractions are required for an unsalvageable
tooth. Extractions, depending on the complexity, along with the age
and health of the patient, may sometimes be performed in our office.
If factors prohibit us from doing so, we would refer you to a specialist
for this procedure.
It is important to monitor
your recovery from an extraction. Click here for a list of things
to keep an eye on after a procedure.
Implants
Implant dentistry has become
a standard for the replacement of missing teeth. This procedure allows
the patient to replace a missing tooth (or teeth) with as close to a
natural tooth as possible.

Restorative
Dentistry
Better known as fillings - we
perform both amalgam (silver) and composite (white) restorations. Some
of the factors in determining which type of restoration material we
will use are which tooth it is, where it is positioned in the mouth,
and size of the restoration required. Two of our dentists prefer to
use only the composite restoration materials for almost all of their
restorations and find the results esthetically pleasing as well as functional.

Root
Canal Therapy
| Root canal therapy is performed
if an existing tooth becomes dead or is persistantly problematic
to the point where an abscess has occurred or a conventional
restoration can not alleviate the patient's discomfort. This
procedure may require more than one appointment. It begins
by removing the inside or pulp of the tooth. Once this is
done, the tooth is sealed and a temporary filling is placed.
After root canal therapy, your existing tooth structure may
become more brittle and susceptible to fracture and or discoloration.
Typically a crown is recommended to be placed over the treated
tooth to act as a proctective jacket to maximize the life
span of your tooth. |

Sedation Dentistry
If the thought of sitting in the dental
chair makes you anxious and afraid, you are not alone. Recent
studies indicate that fear is the number one reason adults avoid
going to the dentist. Oral Sedation involves taking
a medication prior to your appointment that puts you into a relaxed
state while providing an amnesia affect so you have little to no memory of your
appointment once it’s finished.
I.V. Sedation is also available for those individuals that suffer from severe dental anxiety, and would prefer a deeper sedation level.

Veneers
Veneers can be best described
as a facing over your natural tooth. They are usually fabricated
for cosmetic reasons. If you are not happy with the look or for
example the shade, shape or size of your natural tooth or teeth,
veneers can be placed to deliver a more desirable appearance. The
teeth will be prepared and reshaped, impressions taken and the
veneers would be fabricated. The veneers would be bonded into place
about two weeks after the preparations and impressions were done.

 |
In Office whitening
is ideal for patients looking for immediate results.

it is very important to follow certain rules in the following
days. Click here to

2. At Home Whitening System
This at home treatment begins with taking
impressions of your teeth to fabricate customized whitening trays. Once
the trays are complete you will be provided with your whitening
kit and detailed instructions on this procedure. This method
usually takes 10-14 days but results will be noticed within a
few days.
