Dr. Tom Holmes,

Dr. Holmes graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1986 and he has been practising here at Cataraqui since his graduation. He and his wife reside in Kingston where they have proudly raised their three daughters. During these past 20 years Dr. Holmes has been actively involved in our local athletic community, especially with youth fastball and basketball. When you don't see him at his office you will most likely find him at a local sports venue. His interests in dentistry are broad. He finds everything from routine family dentistry to advanced modern procedures very gratifying.

Dr. Gordon Lansdown,

Dr. Lansdown graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1985. He has practiced here at Cataraqui since his graduation. He and his wife reside in Kingston with their two children and the family's very playful yellow lab Lucy. They all enjoy camping and regularly traveling across Canada. Dr. Lansdown is an avid curler and participates actively with the Royal Kingston Curling Club. His specialties include the provision of family oriented dental care and a keen interest in dental implants.

Dr. Karen Nesbitt, Associate |

Dr. Nesbitt graduated in 1992 from McGill University. After graduating, she ran her own very successful practice in Napanee for ten years. She has moved here to Kingston to join our practice and has been a very gratifying addition to our team. Dental surgery is a keen interest, and she handles most of our in-house cases. Her off-duty time finds her very busy raising and competitivety showing her Border Terriers as well as actively participating in the Border Terrier Club of Ontario.

Dr. Brian McDougall, Associate

Dr. McDougall graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1981. After graduating he ran his own practice in Picton for 18 years and he has been a member of the Cataraqui Dental Team since 1999. Dr. McDougall enjoys providing a wide range of dental services from basic restorative dentistry to implant dentistry. He is a proud father of two grown daughters and when not practising dentistry, he can be found enjoying the outdoors by cycling, kayaking or running. As one of the founding members of the "Wing Docs", Dr. McDougall also has lent his expertise in the rating of chicken wings (a thankless job ~ someone has to do it) in Kingston area restaurants.

Dr. Nick Cosman, Associate

Dr. Cosman graduated from the University of British Columbia dental school in 2007. He received his Bachelor of Science Honors in Biology and Chemistry from Acadia University in 2004.
Dr. Cosman is employed full time by The Canadian Forces Base Kingston and works part time here at The Cataraqui Dental Centre. Dr. Cosman provides a wide range of dental services with a special interest in oral surgery. When not practicing dentistry you can find him playing competitive hockey at one of our local ice rinks or out on the golf course.

Sharon McCallum, CDA II,
Treatment Coordinator

Sharon has been a part of the Cataraqui Dental Centre since 1994 and our Treatment Co-ordinator since 2000. Over the years, Sharon has had the opportunity to experience all areas of dentistry, and is now applying her knowledge to educating our patients and guiding them through the decision making process regarding their treatment plan. Sharon organizes and schedules any appointments required with dental specialists and dental laboratories making sure treatment is completed as efficiently as possible. Computer software, demonstration models and photos are all tools which are used to help patients fully understand everything that is discussed. Sharon will prepare any estimates or financial arrangements that are required, and will provide assistance in dealing with insurance companies.

Donna Farrell, R.D.H.
Hygiene Coordinator

Donna has worked as a dental hygienist for the past 26 years and joined our practice as Hygiene Coordinator in 2009. In her role as Hygiene Coordinator, Donna assists the hygienists with patient care, focusing on their periodontal health. Donna also processes insurance predeterminations and estimates and aids patients in understanding their insurance coverage.

Administrative Assistants

When you reach our practice - in person, by telephone, or by email - you will meet one or more of our Administrative Assistants. They are responsible for all of the "non-clinical" portions of your dental appointment. Scheduling appointments, confirmations, processing insurance claims, accepting payments are a few of their duties. Each one of our Administrative Assistants have excellent communication and verbal skills. Dealing with the public is their specialty and our assistants are dedicated to providing our patients with superior service.

Clinical Assistants

When you arrive for a dental appointment you will be greeted by one of our Certified Dental Assistants. They will assist the dentist in all aspects of your dental visit, from preparing the treatment room prior to your arrival to participating in your dental procedure as required. Their duties include taking x-rays, taking impressions, mixing materials and transferring of all required instruments. After your dental appointment they meticulously disinfect the treatment room and sterilize all instruments and hand pieces. Their first priority is to make the patient feel at ease and comfortable during all procedures and by answering any questions and providing information.

Dental Hygienists
|

|
On every occasion you are scheduled for a cleaning, or a recall maintenance visit you will be seen by one of our six Registered Dental Hygienists. These professionals are specifically educated and trained in the area of prevention and oral hygiene care. During your appointment they will perform a thorough assessment of your periodontal condition, remove plaque, calculus (tartar), and stain build-up as required. They will also provide you with information regarding your present dental hygiene condition and extend treatment options.
