Becoming
A Member Of Our Practice
To become a member of our practice
we suggest that all patients begin with a new patient exam. This exam
is a thorough clinical and radiographic examination of all teeth and
oral tissues, as well as the jaw and bite relationship. After the examination
process is complete the dentist can then properly diagnose your dental
health and concerns. Recommendations and treatment options are then
specifically outlined for you. Once this appointment is completed you
are then considered a patient of our practice and will continue to see
the same dentist each time you are scheduled for dental visits. This
appointment is usually an hour in duration, and you should be prepared
to inform our practice of any health issues or concerns, previous dental
history and possibly any dental insurance information you may have.

Confirmation / Rescheduling Policy
It is our belief that in today's society,
time is of the utmost importance. When you book an appointment
with our office, we set aside valuable time in our schedule
to provide you with the best possible service we can extend.
Your appointment is confirmed to ensure accuracy on the part
of both patient and practice. Our treatment records and documents
are located and scrutinized prior to your arrival. After this
has been completed our treatment room is prepared with your
chart and any required materials for your appointment. We
strive to maintain a punctual schedule for all involved, therefore
we ask our patients to reciprocate by arriving at their appointments
in a timely manner and whenever possible providing us with
at least 2 business days notice in the event a change in your appointment
is required.

Continuing
Education
Not only is it recommended, but required
by many of the governing bodies of dental professionals that
a minimum number of continuing educational seminars and workshops
be attended each year. It is equally a high priority for our
entire dental team. We pride ourselves in the high level of professionalism
and expertise that the members of our practice possess not only
in dentistry, but in inter-personal, verbal and communication
skills demanded by todays competetive industry environment.
Emergency
Exams
If you are not
a regular patient of our practice and are experiencing a dental
emergency we will attempt to address your concern as promptly
as our schedule permits. The
area of concern will be examined and diagnosed for you, then
future arrangements can be made to complete any necessary work.
If you have an emergency, you can call us at 613-384-4224.

Post-Op
Care
After a procedure, it is
important to monitor the area that has been affected. Click here for
a list of things to keep an eye on when recovering from a dental
procedure such as an extraction.
There are also some rules
to follow after a tooth whitening procedure. Be sure to examine
these rules or you could run the risk of ruining the procedure.
Recalls
/ Check-Ups
A recall examination (a
check-up) is a very important component of your dental health and
relationship with your dental team. After your initial examination
and treatment your oral hygiene condition will be evaluated and
you will be placed on a recall interval schedule. These appointments
will consist of a thorough cleaning, update of your medical history,
radiographs if necessary and an examination from your dentist.
These appointments are vitally important in the prevention of gum
disease and tooth decay or loss. If we can detect a concern or
condition while in the early stages it is typically easier to treat
which is better for both patient and dentist. The dentist and hygienist
decide what the appropriate interval will be. This will vary between
three months and a year.

Sterilization
and Infection Control
Sterilization and infection
control are exercised at an extreme level, both for the protection
of our patients and staff. Heat sterilization is used for
all instruments and handpieces that are used intra-orally,
and powerful disinfectents are used on all other equipment
and surfaces. Gloves, masks and protective eyewear are also
an extension of our infection control protocols.
