CEREC®
CEREC® Crowns in Kingston, ON
When a tooth is significantly damaged, weakened by large fillings, broken, or affected by decay, a custom dental crown can restore its strength, function, and appearance. At Cataraqui Dental Centre, we offer CEREC® same-day crowns in Kingston, ON, using advanced digital dentistry and CAD/CAM technology to create precise, natural-looking restorations, often in a single appointment.
What are CEREC crowns?
CEREC crowns are custom-made dental restorations created using digital scanning, computer-aided design, and in-office milling technology. Unlike traditional crowns, which typically require multiple appointments and a temporary restoration while the permanent crown is being made at an outside laboratory, CEREC technology allows many crowns to be designed and fabricated from the convenience of our Kingston office.
CEREC technology can also be used to create certain veneers and dental bridges, providing a convenient solution for restoring damaged or heavily restored teeth. Dr. Cosman, Dr. McDonough, Dr. Levac, or Dr. Korcok will determine whether a CEREC restoration is appropriate based on the condition of your tooth and your individual treatment needs.
What is the process of getting a CEREC crown?
- The CEREC crown process begins with a digital scan of your tooth. This eliminates the need for traditional impression material and provides detailed digital images that help us plan your restoration.
- Using specialized CAD/CAM software, your crown is digitally designed to fit the shape, size, and contours of your tooth. The restoration is then milled from a high-quality dental material using advanced in-office technology. Once the crown has been carefully evaluated for fit and appearance, it is bonded securely to your tooth.
- In many cases, the entire same-day crown procedure can be completed in one appointment, allowing you to leave our office with your permanent restoration without waiting for a traditional laboratory-made crown.
Caring for Your CEREC Crown
Your CEREC crown, veneer, or bridge should be cared for much like your natural teeth. Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and maintain regular dental examinations and professional cleanings at Cataraqui Dental Centre. Good oral hygiene helps protect the restoration as well as the natural teeth and gums around it.
Although a crown protects the tooth it covers, the tooth can still be susceptible to decay around the restoration if plaque and bacteria are not properly controlled. Regular dental visits also allow our team to monitor the condition of your restoration and address any concerns early.
