Dr. Patrick McDonough chose dentistry as a profession because it gives him the opportunity to interact with the public on a daily basis, all while allowing him to have a positive influence in the overall health of the community. It is his goal to provide a high standard of personalized dental care, and he looks forward to building long-term relationships with his patients and their families. His calm demeanor helps put even the most nervous patients at ease.
Dr. McDonough strongly values preventive oral healthcare and is very excited to be a member of such a wonderful dental team. He looks forward to spending many years with Cataraqui Dental Team and becoming an active member of the Kingston community.
Education and Continuing Education
- Undergraduate degree: Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University in Michigan
- Dental Degree: Bachelor of Dental Surgery from University College Cork in Ireland
- One-Year Dental Residency: Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto (June 2015-July 2016)
During his residency, Dr. McDonough was able to consult with and learn from specialists in all areas of dentistry on a daily basis, providing him with vital knowledge and skills. He treated medically complex patients and refined his skills in oral surgery, emergency dentistry, and preventive oral healthcare. He also assisted in many maxillofacial surgeries giving him a more profound understanding of facial aesthetics and creating a pleasing smile. Dr. McDonough looks forward to continuing his education to expand his skills and knowledge in all areas of dentistry.

Outside the Office
Dr. McDonough grew up in Lakeshore, Ontario, a small community in Southwestern Ontario, where he attended a French elementary and secondary school (he is bilingual in French and English). He and his wife Ashley live in Kingston East and are enjoying life as new parents.
When he’s not working, Dr. McDonough likes to be active outdoors: playing hockey, cycling, skiing, and running. He and Ashley also enjoy exploring new cafes and restaurants, and are always open to new recommendations.Dr. McDonough and Ashley also love to travel! Having had the wonderful opportunity to live abroad in Ireland for five years, they spent many weekends and holidays traveling around Ireland and different parts of Europe. They are planning to do more traveling around Canada now that they are back.
